From its very humble beginnings over 25 years ago, our community's IHM Center for Literacy has evolved into an efficient and very successful instrument by which we have enabled thousands of very poor immigrants to assimilate more confidently into American society and to have hope in securing more meaningful and less physically stressful and life consuming jobs.
The number of our learners at both IHM Literacy Center sites continues to grow. In some cases, classes are full and there is a waiting list. Our work in literacy is currently answering the call of the Church to be attentive to and mindful of the needs of the poor. What greater work of mercy is there than to give people a better chance at life through education!
If you desire to make a difference in the lives of adult immigrants, please join our efforts! You might even want to set up a visit to see this ministry in action! For theSt. Bernard site (NE Phila.)
